The Mindelo Reserve is a true sanctuary for birds, offering an impressive diversity of habitats that attract a wide variety of species. During observation tours, participants will have the opportunity to see resident and migratory birds, such as the robin, the great heron, the kite and many others. Observers will learn to identify different species of birds, understand their behaviors and habitats, and use appropriate techniques for observing and recording birds. Equipped with binoculars and field guides, participants will be led to the best observation points within the reserve to maximize sightings and ensure a rewarding experience. In addition to the field sessions, the tours include educational moments about the importance of conserving birds and preserving their natural habitats. This program is ideal for all nature lovers who want to deepen their knowledge about birds and enjoy an immersive, peaceful day in nature.

Main species: Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling, Dunlin, Black Redstart, Great Cormorant (White-faced Cormorant), Eurasian Magpie, Hoopoe, European Stonechat, White Wagtail, Common Kingfisher, Black-headed Gull, Reed Bunting, Yellow-legged Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Eurasian Skylark, Eurasian Collared Dove, Common Linnet, European Goldfinch, Common Kestrel, Meadow Pipit, among others.

Everyone is welcome, observation tours are aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about wildlife and observe the different species in a particular region. The guide will explain more about the different species we will observe, as well as their importance to ecosystems.
Before the tour, in the pre-tour briefing and throughout the walk, you will have the opportunity to discuss more about species observation. I will give you several tips to make the most of the tour and you are free to ask any questions.

Graduated in Biology from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia and Master in Conservation Biology from the University of Évora. I started collaborating with various institutions early on.
