AS MELHORES FOTOGRAFIAS
As fotografias escolhidas representam mais do que momentos esteticamente bonitos. São fotografias que guardam histórias, aventuras, horas de espera, erros ou sucessos, regressos e aprendizagens, novas espécies, novas conquistas, novas técnicas. Cada uma delas marca uma fase do meu percurso enquanto biólogo e fotógrafo de vida selvagem, refletindo um pouco a forma como observo e interpreto a vida selvagem.
Muitas destas fotografias demoraram anos a tirar, com recurso a processos longos, com repetições que criam familiaridade com os locais e as espécies lá presentes, para conseguir obter os resultados que pretendia. Algumas são o acumular de conhecimento. Não são fotografias de ocasião ou de sorte, mas o resultado de muita persistência, muito respeito pela natureza e uma forte ligação ao território.
Ao reuni-las aqui, não procuro mostrar apenas o “melhor” em termos visuais, mas sim aquilo que melhor me representa enquanto autor: uma fotografia honesta, ética e profundamente ligada à natureza e vida selvagem.

The chosen photographs represent more than just aesthetically pleasing moments. They are photographs that hold stories, adventures, hours of waiting, mistakes or successes, returns and learnings, new species, new achievements, new techniques. Each one marks a phase of my journey as a biologist and wildlife photographer, reflecting a little on how I observe and interpret wildlife.
Many of these photographs took years to take, using long processes, with repetitions that create familiarity with the places and species present there, to achieve the results I wanted. Some are the accumulation of knowledge. They are not photographs of opportunity or luck, but the result of much persistence, much respect for nature and a strong connection with the territory.
By bringing them together here, I am not trying to show only the "best" in visual terms, but what best represents me as an author: honest, ethical photography that is deeply connected to nature and wildlife.
