PORTUGAL: ATLÂNTICO
O Atlântico molda grande parte da paisagem e da biodiversidade portuguesa. Fotografar no oceano é trabalhar com forças imprevisíveis, onde luz, vento e mar estão em constante mudança. E onde o estômago prefere deixar de funcionar e dar as voltas à cabeça. Infelizmente tenho uma grande tendência a enjoar, embora tenha algumas técnicas recentes que me tem ajudado, continuo a ficar sempre meio desconfortável no resto do dia (o que um fotógrafo sofre).
São fotografias que procuram transmitir a energia do oceano e a ligação profunda entre o mar e as espécies que dele dependem. Algumas tão grandes como um pardal, e que mesmo assim, conseguem cruzar os oceanos toda a sua vida, só pisando terra na época de reprodução. É um feito extraordinário para estas espécies tão pequenas. Os gansos-patolas chegam a estar cinco anos sem voltar a terra, até terem idade para nidificar.

The Atlantic shapes much of the Portuguese landscape and biodiversity. Photographing in the ocean is working with unpredictable forces, where light, wind, and sea are constantly changing. And where your stomach prefers to stop working and rack your brain. Unfortunately, I have a great tendency to get seasick, although I have some recent techniques that have helped me, I'm still always a bit uncomfortable for the rest of the day (which is what a photographer suffers).
These are photographs that seek to convey the energy of the ocean and the deep connection between the sea and the species that depend on it. Some as large as a sparrow, and yet they manage to cross the oceans their entire lives, only setting foot on land during the breeding season. It is an extraordinary feat for these small species. Gannets can spend up to five years without returning to land, until they are old enough to nest.
