VIAGENS: REINO UNIDO
Quando regressei do Brasil tive um convite para ir ao Reino Unido que não podia deixar passar. Fui visitar dois grandes amigos, a Davina Falcão do Cobras de Portugal e uma das melhores ilustradoras de Portugal, e o Andrew Ellis, se não conhecem tem de ver as suas obras de arte. Algumas maiores do que eu. É inacreditável os detalhes que ele consegue captar e converter numa tela.
A casa deles fica no meio do chamado “countryside”, rodeada de animais por todos os lados. Com lagaropos a cantar nas árvores do quintal, com as tordoveias a procurar alimento no campo aberto, com faisões a saltar dos meus pés nas ervas altas, foi inacreditável. E uma delícia ter tido oportunidade de fotografar e ver todas aquelas espécies. Algumas não consegui fotografias de jeito, mas também servem de motivo para regressar novamente.
Todas as fotografias têm uma certa história por trás, como a do corço que veio beber água enquanto eu descansava perto de uma ribeira. Ou as tarambolas-douradas que passavam à frente do carro para proteger os seus ninhos.
TRAVELS: UNITED KINGDOM
When I returned from Brazil, I received an invitation to go to the United Kingdom that I couldn't pass up. I went to visit two great friends, Davina Falcão from Cobras de Portugal, one of the best illustrators in Portugal, and Andrew Ellis, if you don't know him, you have to see his artwork. Some of his works are bigger than me. It's unbelievable the detail he manages to capture and convert onto a canvas.
Their house is in the middle of the so-called "countryside," surrounded by animals on all sides. With lizards singing in the trees in the yard, with thrushes searching for food in the open field, with pheasants jumping from my feet in the tall grass, it was unbelievable. And it was a delight to have had the opportunity to photograph and see all those species. I couldn't photograph some of them properly, but they also serve as a reason to return again.
All the photographs have a certain story behind them, like the one about the roe deer that came to drink water while I rested near a stream. Or the golden plovers that passed in front of the car to protect their nests.
