CONTRIBUTING PHOTOGRAPHER

From time to time I am contacted to collaborate on various publications. Here are some examples of the books where you can find photographs of my own: "As Aves do Jardim Gulbenkian" and "Atlas dos Morcegos de Portugal Continental".

The Birds of the Gulbenkian Garden

Between 2012 and 2013, the project "Um Mês...Uma Ave" took place, where 41 species of birds were recorded and photographed in the 7.5 ha of the Gulbenkian Garden. This guide represents a contribution to a better understanding of the importance of the Gulbenkian Garden in the city context in which it operates.

The recorded species can be divided into resident species, which occur in the garden throughout the year, and migratory species, which frequent the garden during their migratory trajectories. The garden has a great diversity of habitats, which translates into a great diversity of species.

This book introduces us to each of these species, their habits, their characteristics, but above all, it allows us to understand the ecological significance of their presence in this space and the interactions they establish with it.

The author (texts)

Atlas of the Bats of Mainland Portugal

Livros2.jpg

The Atlas of Bats in Continental Portugal project arose with the overall objective of updating this information, with the following specific objectives:

  • Mapping the current distribution of bat species in continental Portugal;

  • Creating a georeferenced database that allows easy and widespread access to information;

  • Describing patterns of species richness in bats; and

  • Providing information for research, planning, and management applied to bat conservation.

As complementary objectives, it aimed to:

  • Integrated into the 2011-12 Year of the Bat campaign, contribute to disseminating the importance of bat conservation among the population and all entities responsible for land management; and

  • Contribute to mobilizing and stimulating professionals and others interested in issues related to bats.

The achievement of these objectives resulted from a great collective effort, which is valued and which we intend to continue in the future. Only in this way will it be possible to meet the constant need for adjustment and updating of the information in this Atlas, particularly for species that are difficult to identify or that will be subject to taxonomic revisions.

Illustrated Guide to the Temporary Mediterranean Ponds of the Southwest Coast

Livros.jpg

Mediterranean Temporary Ponds are among the most extraordinary habitats in the Mediterranean region. This guide aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about these fragile habitats and the species present in them, thus helping their long-term conservation.

The guide is divided into three main chapters (introduction, flora and fauna) and aims to publicize the most characteristic and emblematic species of this habitat. Some of the species that occur here, namely plants, amphibians and freshwater crustaceans, are rare species, with very limited distribution, endemic or with protected status.
