CONSERVATION WALKS

Conservation trails are excellent for showcasing the biodiversity of cities, parks, and gardens to the general public, taking the opportunity to discuss the diverse characteristics of the observed species and their role in ecosystems.

Biodiversity is everywhere, and it will be explored during these trails. Observation trails can be simple, a short walk in nature looking for animals, or have a theme, and can be shorter (2 hours) or longer (4 hours), depending on needs.

Nature trails are a good opportunity to relax, enjoy your time, explore the environment, and learn more about nature. A nature trail is a great way to disconnect from the busy city life, observe and explore nature while enjoying the outdoors.

Context

The conservation trails are designed to bring participants closer to the diverse animals that can be observed. Through a walking route, different details of the daily lives of the species we observe will be explained. The guide will seek to find and identify as many species as possible. The trails should be undertaken during periods of mild temperatures, but can also be done at night, especially in summer. The program for each trail consists of:

  • A brief theoretical introduction related to the theme of the trail.

  • Search for the most common species, with an explanation of each one.

  • Summary of the trail highlighting the list of species observed.

OBJECTIVES OF THE WALKS

The main objectives of the conservation trails are to raise participants' awareness of the species they can observe on a simple walk, their role in ecosystems, their main threats, and how we can help conserve them in urban or natural environments. During the walks, we will stop at certain points to look for some rarer species, explaining their importance and why we should conserve them.

  • Increase knowledge about the observed species

  • Increase conservation of the observed species

  • Raise awareness of the threats they face
