PORTUGAL: ALENTEJO
O Alentejo é uma das regiões mais marcantes para a fotografia de vida selvagem em Portugal. As suas planícies abertas, zonas húmidas e montados criam condições excecionais para observar aves e outros vertebrados.
Durante os meus estudos tive oportunidade de viver na zona de Évora, onde tirei imensas fotografias (a maioria entre 2011 e 2014). Mais tarde estive a morar em Estremoz onde acabei a explorar um pouca mais a região (2019 a 2022). Montei um mini bebedouro, procurei albufeiras e ribeiras para fotografar, usei o hidrohide em diversos espaços, e aprendi mais sobre outras espécies animais.
Este trabalho resulta de uma relação contínua com o território, acompanhando as estações, a luz e as dinâmicas agrícolas. Fotografar no Alentejo é aprender a ler a paisagem e a trabalhar com grandes escalas. As imagens aqui apresentadas refletem essa ligação profunda ao lugar, onde a simplicidade aparente esconde uma enorme riqueza ecológica.

The Alentejo is one of the most remarkable regions for wildlife photography in Portugal. Its open plains, wetlands, and woodlands create exceptional conditions for observing birds and other vertebrates.
During my studies, I had the opportunity to live in the Évora area, where I took many photos (mostly between 2011 and 2014). Later, I lived in Estremoz, where I ended up exploring the region a bit more (2019 to 2022). I set up a mini birdbath, looked for reservoirs and streams to photograph, used the hydrohide in various spaces, and learned more about other animal species.
This work results from a continuous relationship with the territory, following the seasons, the light, and the agricultural dynamics. Photographing in the Alentejo is learning to read the landscape and work with large scales. The images presented here reflect this deep connection with the place, where apparent simplicity hides enormous ecological richness.
